A tip I have to make even more targeted ads and increase your CTR is to make ad groups with 1 keyword. Research a keyword that gets enough traffic that is targeted toward your product, and work on optimizing your ad group toward that. Split test ad variations and see which are working out. You can increase your CTR dramatically by simply doing this.

If you look at your reports in your affiliate networks and notice that you have more leads than clicks, or if you have many more leads one day than the previous with the exact same setup, you may wonder what is going on. The main reason this is occuring is most likely this:

You may have been promoting an offer that says something like this:

“Payout occurs on confirmation page after user submits email and zip, and clicks on the link contained in the confirmation email.”

A user may enter in their email and zip one day, but not activate the link in their email for days. Say you launch a campaign one day, and you notice you have many clicks with no conversions. Then 24 hours later, you notice many conversions with the same number of clicks. This is due to the delay in the user checking their email to confirm the offer.

Today I was interviewed by Google. It was from the press team, specifically the Adsense press team. They basically wanted to ask about how I got started, how I plan to proceed, how Google has helped me, etc. It was for their “success stories” page. So I may potentially be on there sometime soon. It was a good experience. Adsense is a great place to start as far as advertising goes. While you’re in the process of finding direct advertisers or whatnot, it is nice to have Adsense running just to see how it performs.

When building a PPC campaign with Adwords, it can be frustrating making it work. My first tip is this:

Make sure your ads are approved. Google reviews ads that are posted, and if your ad doesn’t comply, it will be disapproved. You may not even noticed that it is disapproved until you actually go into a specific ad group with the disapproved ad. The main reason that ads are disapproved is due to a non-matching display URL and destination URL. Make sure your destination URL will eventually end up at the display URL, or else your ad will be disapproved.

I will begin posting my tips, suggestions, concerns, and ideas related to affiliate marketing. Today I will begin with my first tip.

PJK’s Affiliate Marketing Tip #1

This is directed more toward PPC advertising, but I will include it as an affiliate marketing tip since they are connected more often than not. When creating a campaign of any kind, setup different ad groups. Now, if you have done any research at all, you will see this is quite a common tip. At first, I didn’t understand the point. I mean, why not throw together a list of 50-60 phrases/keywords, say with 10 of each “kind”, which makes 5-6 “ad groups” in one ad group? Well, breaking into ad groups allows for not only better monitoring, but also better customizations. For example, you can create different ad variations for an ad group called “cars” which has a bunch of different car terms. You can then create different ad variations for a completely separate group called “trucks”, and customize your ads from there. Since the ad is what the customer will see, it is quite important to make the connection of the keyword/phrase they are searching and the ad.

Today I was pleasantly surprised to finally have my Adsense account hooked up to my Analytics account. A couple months ago, Google announced that they would allow certain users to merge their Adsense and Analytics accounts to make the better of their ad performance. Today, mine was activated. I haven’t had the chance to mess with it, but from what I have read, it is quite nice. You can’t go wrong.

On side of that, Google Ad Manager released some nice new features, if you haven’t noticed yet:

Line item delivery page - The new line items tab on the orders page provides a quick way for you to check on your ad operations, including order readiness, delivery status, and inventory revenue performance. View the color coded delivery bars to easily identify line item pacing information and line items at risk. Learn more here.

Getting started made easier - Our new getting started page will help new users learn how Ad Manager works, walk through step-by-step tutorials, and explore additional Ad Manager resources. Visit this page by clicking the Getting Started link in the top and footer of your account.

Updated reporting - Your reports have become more accurate and now filter out clicks and impressions from your internal traffic.

New Ad Manager Help Forum -The Ad Manager Help Forum is moving from Google Groups to a new platform that offers a number of features our users have requested. We encourage you to visit and participate in the new forum here.

On side of that, this is my blogs 100th post, already, wow.
